Be wary of a particular taxi driver aggressively hollering for customers, they might provide a service you didn’t ask for.
LSPD and EMS arriving at the scene
Outside of the Vanilla Unicorn venue, while dolled-up customers were waiting in line to enter for the Valentine Auction event run by Mona Lisa Vita, a yellow taxi pulled up just behind the queue. At first no one really paid the driver any mind; after all - it was a popular event and there were still auction hopefuls arriving at the club. The event’s goal is to fundraise for the construction for the Vanilla Unicorn’s official grand opening, and many were anticipating a fun night with a potential new date.
Things took a turn when the taxi driver, yelling in a UK accent if anyone wanted a taxi, proceeded to leave his vehicle, pull out a baseball bat and attack security staff and customers at the scene. This was an allegedly unprovoked attack, as a motive is unknown at this point. Panic and confusion spread rapidly as the attack took place and within seconds the assailant had jumped back into his taxi and sped away, leaving carnage in his wake.
Emergency services and the LSPD were quick to respond and the victims were treated at the scene. Thankfully, they are now doing well and the event continued on as planned with great success.
If you are aggressively approached by a male taxi driver speaking in a UK accent, who has dark hair and possibly wearing glasses - do not engage and keep at a safe distance. Report any harassment or assault to the LSPD and take care.
This is an ongoing situation, possibly more to follow as we learn more.
